The Howell Depot was built in 1886. The Ann Arbor Railroad carried passengers as far north as Frankfort and Elberta, Michigan, and as far south as Toledo, Ohio. The last regular scheduled passenger train pulled out of the station bound for Elberta on July 19, 1950.
